Sensory UK Assists Operators in Achieving Government Grants

Government grants are currently available to operators who develop inclusive play areas and Sensory UK is advising organisations how to access this funding. Sensory UK will demonstrate the benefits of inclusive play areas at this year’s Attractions Expo - part of Leisure Industry Week at the NEC in Birmingham, where The Play Providers Association will hold seminars giving information on the funding.

By sponsoring the Sensory Zone within Attractions Expo, Sensory UK is encouraging operators to include inclusive play areas for children with sensory impairments as well as main stream children, to help with interactivity and learning.

After 24 years looking after a son with multiple disabilities and sensory impairments, Karen Coyle cofounded Sensory UK – a business which designs, manufactures and installs inclusive sensory equipment in play rooms, play centres, hospitals and schools.

Launched in 2008, the business has developed a varied range of specialist sensory equipment from bubble tubes and fibre optics to interactive light and sound, digital technology.

“Our aim is to make play more stimulating and educational, but also inclusive so that special needs children can play in the same environments as main stream children"

Our multi-sensory interactive environments are en excellent platform for inclusive learning and that is why we are encouraging operators to make the most of the government grants and create inclusive play areas at their sites,” says Karen Coyle, Director of Sensory UK.

The Play Providers Conference, in association with the Play Providers Association (PPA), will host dedicated free-to-attend seminars and workshops giving play centre operators further insight into sourcing the available funding to facilitate the development of inclusive and multi-sensory and play areas.  The PPA will also host their Annual ASPIRE (Excellence) Awards on Wednesday 23rd September at The Manor Hotel, Meriden – visit www.playproviders.org.uk for further details.

“The Play Providers Conference is a must attend event for play operators. It provides opportunities to come together as an industry and learn about new products and initiatives. Our conference program this year is relevant and interactive and is sure to provide indoor play centre operators and new start ups with new ideas,” says Kate Costin, Association Manager of the PPA.

Sensory UK will have two marquees within Attractions Expo where they will demonstrate the interactive environments that they offer and be able to give advice on the best solution for your play centre.
