SHOKK secures pioneering tender with Bridgend County Council

SHOKK have secured a pioneering tender with Bridgend County Council (BCC), helping them to meet the Council’s objective to help increase physical activity opportunities and a healthy lifestyle, for young people of all age ranges within the community – the SHOKK concept delivers a complete and measurable physical activity solution.

Officially opening this month, the first phase of the project has seen the renovation of the Ogmore Valley Life Centre which now hosts a revolutionary SHOKK interactive gym which includes SHOKK’s innovative 12 wireless Dancemat System, FLT (Functional Lifting Technology) equipment and IGNITION cardiovascular kit of interactive Bikes, Treadmills and Fluid Rowers and Vew-Do balance boards – all of which focus on engaging everyone in physical activity in a fun and entertaining way.

The project has been funded by Bridgend County Council (BCC) and Welsh Assembly with the principal aim to improve access to health and fitness facilities for younger members of the local community, specifically those who would not normally use a traditional gym environment.

Dean Protheroe Centre Manager at Ogmore Valley Life Centre said: “We are dedicated to helping young people and want to provide the best leisure provision available. We enlisted SHOKK as they provide the latest equipment and premier youth specific training that meets the Council’s strategy. The new gym will ensure that all members of our community get the chance to exercise, stay healthy and have fun. We will continue to build our relationship with SHOKK as there is definite potential for their concept to help us to deliver our targets for other health related initiatives.

Justine Williams, SHOKK Sales Director commented: "It has always been our objective to bring modern physical activity solutions to young people and making them accessible to all. SHOKK not only provides enjoyable experiences for all young people no matter what age, size or ability but we have a proven concept backed by scientific evidence that meets the national physical activity recommendations. Bridgend County Council has really embraced the SHOKK concept and this new site is an exciting addition to local amenities.”
