History of the PPA
The PPA was launched at LIW in 2005. A new breed of play operator was gaining a foothold in the indoor play market and it became apparent that an association was required to facilitate this industries development. With already 3 trade associations in the play sectors under its umbrella the FSPA launched the Play Providers Association.
Inaugural Meeting
The first meeting of the association took place in March 2006, where leading operators gathered at Federation House to discuss the role and direction of the PPA. A benefits package was established specific to the requirements of indoor operators and the membership of the PPA began to grow.
In the summer of 2006, the PPA ran its first series of regional meetings which have proved a popular forum for operators to come together and share best practice
In early 2008, the PPA met with key officials from the DCSF. With the huge investment in outdoor play by the government, the PPA felt that indoor operators and the facilities that they offer wernt being utilised fully and discussions have continued with key government personel and other related organisations. In July 2008, the PPA secured its 100th member and relaunched its website, to increase its benefit to the sector.
